On 23/06/2010 was found already dead on the beach at Pachino in the province of Siracusa, a large cephalopod species Thysanoteuthis rhombus. The weight of the specimen was estimated at 22 kg for a length of 110 cm, it is an adult. This organism, which lives in deep water, is common in the Atlantic Ocean and has been reported only rarely in the Mediterranean, but it seems that some fishermen in the capture of Messina on a frequent basis.
